Zacharias Huber was the son of the leading Franeker professor of law, Ulricus Huber, whom he succeeded in 1695 after four years of law practice in Leeuwarden. Zacharias filled the chair for twentytwo years, before leaving to become an advocate at the court of Friesland in 1716. In his teaching hestressed the importance of the classics for the practice of law, while in his later writings he devoted more attention to contemporary legal developments.
